PHILADELPHIA, Pa.—Villanova competed in the preliminary heats of both the 4x100 meter relay and the 4x400 meter relay during afternoon action at the 125
th Penn Relays at Franklin Field on Friday. Also on the schedule for the second half of the day were the college sections of the shot put and the long jump. The lineup of sophomore

Friday's race in the preliminary heats of the 4x400 meter relay was the first time the Wildcats were running the event this outdoor season. Villanova posted a time of 3:14.13 to finish second in its heat and 20
th overall out of 60 teams that competed in the preliminary round. Lampinen and Hughes tallied splits of 48.42 and 48.14 on the second half of the relay to enable the Wildcats strong finish.
In the heats of the 4x100 meter relay earlier in the day, the team of sophomore
Michael Troup (Doylestown, Pa.), graduate student
Troy Gallen (Glen Mills, Pa.), Brock and junior
Steve Testa (Warminster, Pa.) registered a time of 42.43. Villanova competed in the first of eight heats and was the runner-up in the heat to all-time collegiate record holder and defending NCAA champion Houston. This year is only the second time in the last 18 seasons that the Wildcats have lined up for the 4x100 heats at the Penn Relays.
Senior thrower
Henry Sise (Hawthorn Woods, Ill.) recorded a mark of 15.81 meters in the shot put. He came in 17
th out of 50 competitors in his section and surpassed 15 meters on all three of his throws for the day. He opened the competition with a throw of 15.16 meters, increased his mark to 15.46 meters on his second throw and then had his best effort of the day on his last attempt. The distance of 15.81 meters is the third-longest of Sise's collegiate career and his second-best outdoor throw.
The trio of Troup, sophomore
Vincent Sengelmann and Testa all competed in the long jump during the middle of the day. Troup had the top mark of the Villanova competitors with a distance of 6.82 meters. Sengelmann recorded a mark of 6.63 meters and Testa jumped 6.60 meters.
