VILLANOVA, Pa. – Villanova Rowing is set to hit the water for six events in the spring, as announced by head coach
Carissa Adams on Tuesday when the schedule was unveiled.
The Wildcats will race in three scrimmages and three regattas throughout the spring with events taking them to Florida, New Jersey and Allentown, Pa.
The longest bit of travel will take the 'Cats down to the Sunshine State for their annual spring-opening training trip. While in Florida, they will take part in a pair of scrimmages against Jacksonville and Holy Cross on March 6 and 7, respectively, on Newman's Lake in Gainesville. They come back to Pennsylvania on March 21 for one final scrimmage against Lehigh on the Lehigh River in Allentown.
April brings a new regatta for the Wildcats as they head to Leonia, N.J. on April 4 for the Ram Invitational Regatta at Overpeck Park, hosted by Fordham.
From there, the rest of the spring brings familiar territory for the Blue and White with a trio of two-day regattas they have frequented over recent years.
Villanova makes the trip over to New Jersey once again the following week for the Knecht Cup on April 11 and 12 on the Cooper River in Pennsauken. This will be the fifth consecutive year that the Wildcats are racing in the event. The 2025 outing for the 'Cats was highlighted by a 2V4 Petite Final win, finishing in 8:37.66 for a three-second lead over the rest of the field. The V8 made an appearance in the Grand Final, marking just the third time in the last 20 years that the 'Cats had a team competing for the Ann Harris Smith Memorial Trophy.
The 'Cats make their second consecutive trip down to the Tar Heel State for the Lake Wheeler Invite on April 24 and 25. The highly touted regatta hosted by Duke and North Carolina had a stacked field last year that boasted nationally-ranked sides in the hosting Blue Devils and Tar Heels along with Virginia and Columbia.
All of those races pave the way for the CAA Rowing Championship on May 15 and 16, once again on the Cooper River in Pennsauken, N.J. Villanova finished fourth last season with a program-best 29 points. It was the highest finish for the team since 2023. Three Wildcats were named All-CAA team selections in
