Seven ‘Cats Lauded as CRCA Scholar-Athletes

WILMINGTON, Del. – The Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) unveiled its 2025 CRCA Scholar-Athlete Award list on Tuesday afternoon with seven members of the Villanova Rowing team honored in the process.

The entire list consists of 990 student-athletes who represent the highest standards of excellence in both academic achievement and athletic performance across all divisions of collegiate women's rowing. Since 2005, Villanova has had 113 rowers honored in the list.

The CRCA Scholar-Athlete Award recognizes collegiate rowers who demonstrate a strong commitment to success in the classroom and on the water. Nominees must meet the following criteria:

Academic Requirements
  • Must meet all institutional and conference eligibility rules
  • Must be in their 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th year of eligibility
  • Must hold a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher through the end of the fall semester/winter quarter
Athletic Requirements
  • Must have rowed in at least 75% of the team's spring races in an NCAA or IRA (lightweight) eligible boat,
    or
  • Must have competed in an NCAA boat at their conference championship
"These scholar-athletes exemplify the discipline, work ethic, and the give and take it takes to succeed at the highest level," said Marnie Stahl, CRCA Executive Director. "Their achievements reflect the best of collegiate athletics. I would also like to add a very large thank you to our Awards Committee, Margaret Dail, Sarah Hudnall and Sam Sarff for all their work this awards season."

Of Villanova's honorees, five have been named to the list previously led by Gianna Zajac who has been recognized in each of the last three seasons. Maggie Coyne, Sabrina Pauli and Sarah Robillard have been lauded in back-to-back seasons with Grace Quirk earning her second honor since the 2022-23 season.
