The Villanova women's lacrosse team (4-8, 0-1) will face off against the Marquette Golden Eagles (5-7, 0-1) Saturday afternoon, for their second conference game of the season. The Wildcats are coming off a 13-11 loss to Georgetown, while Marquette fell to No. 21 UConn 18-15 in the first week of BIG EAST play. 

In nine previous matchups, the Wildcats hold the advantage winning five games. Last season, the two split a weekend series, with Villanova winning 19-15 and Marquette winning 8-7.

Leading the Villanova offense against Georgetown was freshman Sydney Pappas, who tied a career high with five points, scoring four goals with one assist. A trio of seniors also scored two goals apiece as Libby McKenna, Alexa Tsahalis and Olivia Piccirilli all converted scoring chances. For the season, senior Caroline Curnal tops the leaderboard through 12 games, with 33 points on the season by way of 28 goals and five assists. The Ridgefield, Connecticut native also leads the team with 88 draw controls, after securing 10 against Georgetown last weekend. 

The Golden Eagles are coming off a high scoring affair with conference foe UConn, as 33 goals were scored in the contest. Senior Shea Garcia and junior Mary Schumar enter the second week of conference play leading Marquette with 44 points each. Garcia's 32 goals rank third best in the BIG EAST, while Schumar's 26 assists ranks best in total assists and assists per game in the conference. Against UConn, the junior attacker Schumar tallied six assists, one goal and two ground balls, earning BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.
