VILLANOVA, PA- Villanova women's lacrosse lost a tough battle against #1 Denver in the BIG EAST Championships, with a final score of 9-14.

Sydney Pappas had a game-high of five goals,
Leslie Iorio was able to score two goals and had two draw controls.
Maddy Stoddard and
Sophia Corretjer both had two caused turnovers, with Corretjer adding an assist and two ground balls.
Rose Christie totaled a high of three assists for the 'Cats and
Cate Gallagher totaled five saves.

At 14:11 Pappas scored the first goal of the game with Christie getting the assist. Denver answer back not long after.
Madison Freeman was the next Wildcat to find the back of the net, with Corretjer's help. Going into the second quarter, the score was 2-2.

The Pioneers then went on a seven goal run. With 4:02 left in the quarter Iorio scores with the help of Christie to make the score 3-8. Denver scores two more goals to put the 'Cats down 3-10 at half.

Christie gets a pass from Carey and finds the back of the net with 9:45 on the clock. Pappas is then able to score two goals back-to-back, with the help of
Elena Torres on one. At the end of the third quarter, the Wildcats trail 6-13.

Pappas scores with 10:50 left in the game, Denver scores quickly after. Christie then helps Iorio find the back of the net. With 27 seconds left, Torres finds Pappas cutting to goal to score the final goal of the game, Making the score 14-9 as the clock hit zero.

Pappas, Christie and Stoddard were named ALL-BIG EAST Tournament at the conclusion of the game.
