Whitey Rigsby serves as the Senior Major Gift Officer for Athletics, having worked in athletic development at Villanova since January of 2000. In this role, Rigsby functions as the Villanova Athletic Fund's point person for baseball, golf and men's & women's soccer. In addition, Rigsby has spent over 45Â seasons as "The Voice of Wildcat Basketball" on the radio.
Prior to his current role, Rigsby functioned as Director of Athletic Development and previously directed the Block V Club, where his primary responsibilities included overseeing all fundraising activities for VU's 24 intercollegiate sports. He also served as the host of the Jay Wright radio and television shows and co-host of The Wildcat Call-In Show.
Before joining the full-time Villanova staff, Rigsby was a salesman for John F. Scanlan, Inc., for 20 years.
Rigsby earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing at Villanova in 1978 and was a three-year starter for the men's basketball team. During his tenure as a player, Rigsby tallied 393 assists and captained the '78 team to the NCAA Elite Eight to earn a spot in the Villanova Varsity Club Hall of Fame in 1995.
Rigsby resides in Spring City, Pa., with his wife Becky (Villanova '79) and has seven children: Deborah (Villanova '04), Rob Jr. (Villanova '07), Frederick (Villanova '07), Mary, Matthew (Villanova '10), Joseph (Villanova '12) and John. Each of his five sons served as VU men's basketball ball boys during their childhood.
