Michi Ellers

Michi Ellers joined the Villanova women’s lacrosse staff in the fall of 2023 after serving three years as the head coach at Bryn Mawr College.

Ellers helped lead the Wildcats to one of the best seasons in program history during 2025, earning the squad its first ever BIG EAST title game berth and the best league regular season finish ever as the second seed for the conference tournament. Ellers oversaw the breaking of two major program records during the year as Sydney Pappas eclipsed the all-time goals mark and Sami Carey picked up the all-time assists crown.

2024 saw the 'Cats pick up a berth in the BIG EAST Tournament after beating Marquette on the final day of the regular season to finish at .500 in league play and earn the fourth seed. Ellers coached Mary Moore to a Freshman of the Year accolade while three other VU offensive players were named All-BIG EAST.

Ellers spent seven total seasons at Bryn Mawr, serving as head coach from 2020-22. Prior to Bryn Mawr, Ellers co-founded a local youth lacrosse club program called Philly Gamers, where she coached for four years.

Ellers received a degree in psychology from Georgetown while playing a vital role as a four-year starter, leading the Hoyas to four straight NCAA Tournaments and back-to-back title games.  After graduating in 2004, Ellers served as an assistant coach at her alma mater for seven years.

During her playing career in our nation's capital, Ellers was a two-time First Team All-American and BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year (2003, 2004) on the four-time BIG EAST champions. She earned a spot on the 2004-05 U.S. Development Team and was one of five finalists for the 2004 Tewaaraton Trophy, given annually to the top collegiate player in the nation. Ellers led the country in caused turnovers for two straight years and is Georgetown's all-time leader in the category with a total of 204. She earned a record five BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week honors and holds the top three spots in the GU record books for most caused turnovers in a single season.

Ellers continued her playing career on the U.S. Women's Lacrosse National Team and played an instrumental part on the defensive unit that went undefeated and won a gold medal in the 2009 FIL World Cup Games.
