ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Villanova University women's tennis team fell 6-1 to the Navy Midshipmen on Sunday afternoon.
Navy claimed the early momentum by securing the doubles point with victories at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. The No. 3 doubles match featuring
Miriam Gondorova and
Olivia Corcoran was unfinished.
In singles play, the Midshipmen captured five of the six matches to secure the team win.
Alina Kornyeva provided the Wildcats' lone point of the afternoon, earning a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Cha at the No. 6 position. Several other singles matches were closely contested, including
Olivia Corcoran's three-set battle at No. 1 singles and
Jenna Stevens battle on No. 4.
Lauren Monti also kept things close on No.5, falling in three.
