Ronan O’Neill and Sal Barretta Record Matching Personal Bests in 40 Meter Hurdles at Larry Ellis Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J.—Junior sprinters Ronan O'Neill (Wilmette, Ill.) and Sal Barretta (Whitestone, N.Y.) recorded identical PRs of 54.56 in the 400 meter hurdles as Villanova wrapped up two days of competition at the Larry Ellis Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The pair moved into a tie for fifth place in the BIG EAST this season with their results.
 
It took thousandths of a second to distinguish O'Neill and Barretta at the finish line, as they came in seventh and eighth overall in a field of two dozen runners. O'Neill was clocked in 54.555 and Barretta in 54.557. Both runners have lowered their personal bests in the hurdles on multiple occasions this season. Last season Barretta was seventh in the BIG EAST final of the hurdles and O'Neill finished ninth in the preliminary round.
 
Sophomore sprinter Matthew Griffin (Whippany, N.J.) and freshman Liam Gluck (Beavercreek, Ohio) posted times of 49.72 and 49.80 in the 400 meters on Saturday. Senior Connor Dunning (Nashua, N.H.) led a Wildcats trio in the 200 meters with a time of 22.38, followed by junior Luke Rakowitz (Dallas, Texas) with a time of 22.56 and junior Jimmy Milgie (Wildwood, Mo.) who crossed the line in 23.11.
