VILLANOVA, Pa - Villanova women's lacrosse took down Columbia on Saturday evening 12-8, with
Sydney Pappas scoring five goals to put her at the top of the programs record book for most goals scored.
The New York native now totals 155 goals scored, surpassing the previous record by 2 goals.
Emma Verhoest also had a strong showing of 16 draw controls, tying her own school record of draw controls per game.
The Lions where the first ones to score, but Pappas quickly answered with a free position goal. Columbia scored again but this time
Sophia Corretjer answered back to even the score of 2-2, this was the starts of the 'Cats 6 goal run.
Sami Carey earned a free position and found the back of the net before
Jillian Vaught passed to
Leslie Iorio to put the Wildcats up by two. Carey helped Pappas grab her second goals of the game. To end the first quarter,
Elena Torres scores off a free position, making the score 6-2.
Carey earned a free position to start off the second quarters with a goal. the Lions then scored three goals in a row to end the quarter 7-5 at the end of the first half.
Columbia started the quarter with a goal to make it 7-6, Carey finds Pappas who then finds the back of the net for her third goal.
Madison Freeman has not help to net the ball next to put the score at 9-6.
At 12:45 in the fourth quarter, Pappas netted her fourth goal, and giving her the school record.
Ashlyn Hickey found Pappas for her fifth goal at the end of the quarter.
Bella Piselli was the last Wildcat to score, making the finals score 12-8.
Villanova will start BIG EAST play next Saturday, as they host UConn.
