GENEVA, Ohio - Villanova finished day two at the BIG EAST Championship with the women in first with 563 points and the men in fourth with 188 points.
The Wildcats walk away from today's competition with 14 personal bests, six medal performances and a new school record.
Senior
Patrick Hemingway earned the fastest time in program history with his 20.41 time in the 50 Free consolation finals, just .01 faster than the previous school record.
Peri Gaguzis earned bronze in the 500 free touching the wall at 4:50.50 with a new personal best.
Martina Lonati earned fourth and a personal best with her time of 4:50.65, while
Katie White (4:53.78) and
Amylia Higgins (4:57.79) also earned personal bests.
The 200 IM was packed with personal bests, including
Alana Leen (2:02.81),
Winnie Jalet (2:02.28) and
Aiden Bunker (1:49.19). Standouts in this race included
Justin Nowicki who swam a personal best in the prelims and was able to shed more time off in the finals, making his new best 1:47.43. That time also makes him the third-fastest performer in the event in program history and gives him the third and fourth fastest times.
Meghan Tiernan swam a best of 2:01.21 in the prelims and reset her time to 2:01.00 in the finals helping her steal the bronze while
Anna Farley got the silver with her personal best of 2:00.36.
On the board,
Meghan Scott scored 262.95, also a new personal best, in the 1-meter championship final. This score landed her in fifth place.
The 50 Free bronze medal was earned by Carlota Colomer and her time of 22.87, giving her a personal record in addition to
Lexi Elkovitch (23.13) and
Riley Kudlac (23.15) who finished in fifth and sixth, respectively.
Gold was won by quartet of Colomer, Kudlac,
Lainey Quinones and Elkovitch in the 200 Free Relay, swimming 1:31.39. The men earned bronze with efforts from
Zach Sutter, Hemingway,
Sam Randall and
Mikey Thurk clocking in at 1:20.89. Those times were the fifth and third-fastest on the women's and men's program lists.
For day three, event prelims start at 10 a.m. while diving will start at 1 p.m., with finals for swimming and diving starting at 5:45 p.m. Events will consist of 100 fly, 400 IM, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back and men's 1-Meter with the night being capped off with the 400 Medley Relay.
