PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Villanova men's swimming team cruised to a 187-73 road victory over Providence on Saturday afternoon, claiming 13 wins in 14 events and recording 29 top three finishes.
The Wildcats opened the meet with a win in the 200 Medley relay, as the A team of
Cole Gorsuch,
Hugh Boris,
Zach Sutter and
Max Kunisaki touched first in 1:45.05. The B team followed closely behind in third place with a time of 1:47.24.
Sutter also posted two runner-up finishes in the 50 Free (24.03) and 100 Free (53.02).
Villanova's freshmen delivered standout performances against the Friars. Boris earned a pair of victories in the 100 Breast (1:05.79) and 200 Breast (2:22.98), while Kunisaki claimed first in both the 50 Free (23.81) and 100 Fly (56.55).
Carter Gray took the top spot in the 200 IM with a time of 2:09.78 and added a third-place finish in the 100 Breast (1:08.01).
Michael Anderson placed third in the 200 Fly (2:12.82).
Owen Nye added two individual wins, taking the 800 Free in 8:40.50 and the 400 Free in 4:11.68.
Sam Randall secured first place in the 200 Free (1:55.23) and finished third in the 100 Free (53.72).
Other Villanova victories came from
Justin Nowicki in the 200 Fly (2:09.09),
Gavin Jones in the 100 Free (52.45),
Brian Farrell in the 200 Back (2:07.99), and
Max Christensen in the 100 Back (59.87).
Jones also finished third in the 200 Free (1:57.77), while Nowicki placed second in the 200 IM (2:10.24).
Aiden Bunker was runner-up in the 100 Breast (1:07.43), and
Henry Gingrich took second in the 100 Fly (59.61).
Brady Tierney added a pair of second place finishes in the 400 Free (4:13.74) and 800 Free (8:45.72).
The Villanova men return home to face Rider on Nov. 12.
