Tristan Bolinsky (Gordon, Pa.) and senior long jumper
Justin Miller (Colliersville, Tenn.) made big moves on Villanova's all-time performance lists in their respective events as the Wildcats closed out two successful days of competition in the Virginia Challenge on Saturday afternoon. Bolinsky rose to fourth place in school history in the hammer and Miller leaped into ninth place on the Villanova performance list in the long jump. There were five personal best marks in all recorded by the Wildcats at Lannigan Field on Saturday.
Bolinsky threw for 55.58 meters in the hammer, nearly three meters longer than his previous personal best from this year's season opener. His new mark moves him four spots from eighth place into fourth place in school history. He also comes out of the weekend ranked fourth in the BIG EAST this season. Liam Anderson (Lebanon, N.J.) produced marks of 14.81 meters and 13.41 meters, respectively, in the shot put.
In the long jump, all four of Miller's successful attempts were better than seven meters. On his fifth jump of the day he soared to a new personal best mark of 7.36 meters to tally a fifth place finish out of 24 competiors. Miller surpassed his previous PR by 30 centimeters and moved onto Villanova's all-time performance list in the long jump. He ranks ninth in school history both overall and specifically outdoors, while his mark recorded on Saturday also puts him third in the BIG EAST on the season.
One of the top events for the Wildcats on Saturday was the 200 meters in which the sprint trio of freshman
Parker Turner (Los Angeles, Calif.), senior
Jakob Kunzer (George Town, Grand Cayman) and sophomore
Amiri Prescod (Chaguanas, Trinidad and Tobago) posted impressive times. Turner recorded a personal best time of 21.45, followed by Kunzer who lowered his PR to 21.55 and Prescod with a time of 21.70. Those times rank 6-7-11 in the BIG EAST on the year and came in the second race in as many days for all three athletes. Turner and Prescod competed in the 100 meters on Friday afternoon while Kunzer ran the 400 meters.
Senior sprinter
Nicholas Mollica (Jackson, N.J.) posted a season best time of 53.04 to finish seventh in the 400 meter hurdles and sophomore
Luke Rakowitz (Dallas, Texas) had a personal best mark of 55.95.
