Wildcats Jump to First and Third Through Day Two of WVU Invitational

MORGANTOWN, W. Va – Villanova swimming and diving wrap up their second day at the WVU invitational. After today's events the women jump up to first place with a score of 1233.5 and the men jump to third with a score of 810.
 
Junior Arabella Lee swam 54.31 in the preliminaries for the 100 fly giving her first place going into championship finals in the nightcap, she was able to improve her time and keep her fist place spot touching the wall at 53.71. 
 
Three 'Cats had personal best in today's races. Sophomore Anna Farley was able claim second place in the 400 IM with her time of 4:20.78, shedding nearly three seconds off her personal best. Behind her in third was Sophomore Peri Gaguzis with her time of 4:21.76 and a new personal best. Carlota Colomer Guasch clenched seventh place in the 100 breast, her time and new personal best is 1:03.84.
 
Justin Nowicki lead the 'Cats in the 400 IM where he claimed second place touching in at 3:54.43. Max Christensen was not far behind him in ninth place with a time of 3:59.90. Theo Morse claimed tenth with his time of 4:02.50. 13th place went to Henry Halloran swimming 4:04.69 with Brady Tierney following in 14th clocking in at 4:06.20.
 
Katie White claims eighth place in the 100 fly touching the wall at 55.67, with Martina Lonati grabbing tenth swimming 55.59. Freshman Zach Sutter was able to swim 49.52 in the 100 fly, putting him in eighth place overall. Following closely behind is Sam Randall in 13th touching the wall at 49.89.
 
Michelle Kasulka placed sixth in the 3 meter dive with a score of 249.30. While Nicholas Jubilee finished fifth in the 1 meter dive scoring 276.70.
 
Fourth place in the 100 breast goes to Winnie Jalet with her time of 1:03.13. On the men's side Wade Weston takes 14th clocking 56.73, while Mikey Thurk claims 15th with a time of 56.96.
 
 Amylia Higgins took fourth place in the 200 free with her time of 1:51.02. following her is Riley Kudlac clocking in at 1:51.10.
 
Meghan Tiernan got fourth place in the 400 IM touching in at 4:22.26. Annie Honkamp followed in sixth place with her time of 4:25.09. Ninth place goes to Kathryn Montefusco and her time of 4:27.49.
 
Lee is able to claim ninth place in the 100 back swimming 55.48. Behind her is Alana Leen with her time of 56.31. On the men's side, Cole Gorsuch claimed tenth with his time of 49.74.
 
Women's relays came out on top in today's competition. Team A of Colomer, Kudlac, Higgins and Marlene Blanke swam 7:27.28 in the 800 free relay, helping them claim second place. Team B of White, Lainey Quinones, Farley and Lonati swam 7:28.05 pushing them into third place.

Day three will start on Friday at 10 a.m. with preliminaries in the 200 Back, 100 Free, 1650 Free, 200 Breast and 200 Fly. Finals at 6 p.m. will also include the 400 Free Relay.
