MORGANTOWN, W. Va – Villanova swimming and diving wrap up their first day at the WVU invitational. After today's events the women are in second place with a score of 496 and the men are in fourth with a score of 270.
The Wildcats saw 3 personal best today. Sophomore
Peri Gaguzis finished fourth in the 500 free touching the wall at 4:55.40, knocking over a second off her personal best. Junior
Katie White finished closely behind in fifth place, shedding almost two seconds off her personal best, clocking in at 4:55.51. Sophomore
Anna Farley finished second in the 200 IM touching in at 2:01.54, taking nearly two seconds off her old time. She was .02 seconds behind William and Mary's Ellie Scherer who took first.
Martina Lonati finished 8
th overall in the 500 free with her time of 4:58.89. On the men's side,
Justin Nowicki was able to grab 11
th swimming 4:32.17 with Freshman
Owen Nye shortly behind him in 13
th with a time of 4:33.50 and a season best for him.
The 200 free relay A team of Carlota Colomer,
Riley Kudlac,
Lexi Elkovitch and
Lainey Quinones swam 1:32.95 helping them achieve third overall.
Winnie Jalet Tied for fifth place in the 200 IM with Elsie Delacruz from Navy touching the wall at 2:03.11. On the men's side,
Aiden Bunker grabbed 12
th swimming 1:51.08 and
Max Christensen took 15
th with his time of 1:53.04.
Colomer came in second in the 50 free touching the wall at 23.06 just .06 behind William and Mary's Flynn Truskett who took first.
Patrick Hemingway represented the men's team, placing 14
th swimming 20.84.
On the diving board,
Chris Jones reached second place in the 3 meter dive with a score of 308.25. Behind him in third was
Nicholas Jubilee who scored 297.00.
Michelle Kasulka grabbed sixth with her score of 220.90 on the 1 meter dive.
Day two will start on Thursday at 10 a.m. with preliminaries in the 100 Fly, 400 IM, 200 Free, 100 Breast, 100 Back, 1-meter Women's Diving and 3-meter Men's Diving. Finals at 6 p.m. will also include the 200 Medley Relay and 800 Free Relay.
