UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.—The final day of competition at the Penn State National Open produced noteworthy results for several Villanova athletes on Saturday afternoon. Junior distance runner
Devon Comber (Ambler, Pa.) broke eight minutes in the 3000 meters for the first time in his career and fifth year triple jumper
Kelechi Eziri (Charlotte, N.C.) moved into sixth place on the Wildcats all-time indoor performance list in his Villanova debut. Six events made up the Wildcats schedule on Saturday at Horace Ashenfelter III Indoor Track.
Comber came in fourth out of more than two dozen competitors in the invitational section of the 3K with a time of 7:59.29. He cut more than 11 seconds off his previous PR which had been set at this same meet last year when Comber produced a time of 8:10.93. He and fifth year athlete
Xian Shively (Glendale, Calif.) posted strong finishes in Saturday's race, with Shively crossing the line in 8:04.52 and coming within less than two seconds of his standing personal best set last year.
Earlier in the afternoon Eziri recorded a mark of 14.44 meters in the triple jump. The graduate transfer from Amherst was a four-time all-region and three-time All-New England performer during his undergraduate career. He is now one of the top triple jumpers in the Villanova record book after his Wildcats debut, sitting in sixth place on the program's indoor performance list and needing just 10 more centimeters to move up to fifth place.
In the early track events senior
Jakob Kunzer (George Town, Grand Cayman) led a trio of Villanova runners in the 400 meters with a time of 48.97. Sophomores
Luke Rakowitz (Dallas, Texas) and
Jimmy Milgie (Wildwood, Mo.) followed him with respective marks of 49.29 and 49.39. Freshman

Amiri Prescod (Chaguanas, Trinidad and Tobago) and senior
Nicholas Mollica (Jackson, N.J.) with times of 22.58 and 22.66.
A lineup of Mollica, Milgie, Rakowitz and Kunzer ran the 4x400 meter relay in 3:15.16.
Junior thrower
Tristan Bolinsky (Gordon, Pa.) and sophomore
Liam Anderson (Lebanon, N.J.) recorded throws of 15.01 meters and 11.52 meters, respectively, in the shot put. Bolinsky registered a collegiate PR in the event one day after he surged into fourth place on the Villanova performance list in the weight throw with a personal best throw of 17.56 meters.
