CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.—Villanova wrapped up its stay at the Virginia Challenge with four events at Lannigan Field on Saturday afternoon. The top result of the day for the Wildcats came from fifth year middle distance runner
Trevor Potts (Sparta, N.J.) who recorded a personal best time in the 800 meters. Villanova also had entries in the 200 meters, the 400 meter hurdles and the shot put on Saturday, with competition delayed until later in the day due to severe weather in the area.
Potts ran the 800 meters in 1:52.46 to win his heat and place 11
th overall in a field of 37 runners. He lowered his lifetime PR by more than eight-tenths of a second, with Saturday's time beating his previous mark of 1:53.30 which was set outdoors in 2022 in the preliminary heats of the BIG EAST Championship.
Junior sprinter
Jakob Kunzer (George Town, Grand Cayman) and freshman
Jimmy Milgie (Wildwood, Mo.) each posted strong results in the 200 meters while running that event for the first time this season. Kunzer recorded a personal best time of 22.09 to beat his previous top time of 22.25 which had been set at this same meet last year. Milgie was clocked in 22.59 in his first collegiate 200 meter race.
In the only other track event on the Wildcats docket, junior
Nicholas Mollica (Jackson, N.J.) and senior
Mac Costonis (Lower Gwynedd, Pa.) posted times of 53.99 and 56.23, respectively, in the 400 meter hurdles.
Freshman thrower
Liam Anderson (Lebanon, N.J.) competed in the shot put and tallied his best mark of the outdoor season with a throw of 13.25 meters.
Villanova will be in action this week at the Penn Relays.
