PHILADELPHIA, Pa.—Three men's distance runners competed in the 5000 meters for the Wildcats on distance night at the 125
th Penn Relays, with freshman
Josh Phillips (Belrose, Australia) leading the way. Sophomores
Martin Barr (Skokie, Ill.) and
Rob Morro (Media, Pa.) also competed at Franklin Field on Thursday night.
Phillips ran his first collegiate outdoor race and posted a time of 14:30.06 in the 5000 meters. He finished 24
th overall out of 93 runners in the 5000 meters, and the three Villanova competitors recorded times that were within 10 seconds of each other. Barr finished with a time of 14:33.57 and Morro crossed the finish line in 14:39.34.
The lone event on the schedule for the men's team on Thursday was the 5000 meters. A full day of action awaits the Wildcats on Friday, beginning bright and early at 9 a.m. with the championship section of the 400 meter hurdles. Action continues for Villanova through the men's distance medley relay at 5:15 p.m.
