McKenna Keegan Posts Time of 2:05.71 in the 800 Meters

Villanova junior recorded a top-10 national time in Friday afternoon’s meet

BOSTON, Mass.—Junior sprinter McKenna Keegan (West Grove, Pa.) recorded a time of 2:05.71 in the 800 meters while racing in the David Hemery Valentine Invite on Friday afternoon.  She came in eighth in the fastest section of the 800 meters and was one of just two collegiate runners in her heat.  Keegan was the lone Villanova women's athlete competing in Boston on a day when the Wildcats were also competing at meets in New York and Seattle.

Keegan's time of 2:05.71 was tied for ninth place on the national performance list as of the close of competition on Friday evening.  She also increased her lead atop the BIG EAST for the current season and notched a new indoor personal best.  The only faster times Keegan has previously run in the 800 meters were marks of 2:05.11 and 2:05.16 at last spring's NCAA East Preliminary outdoors when she was on her way to advancing to the NCAA Championships for the first time in her career.
