Facing Off: No. 14/15 Villanova will host RV Hofstra on Saturday, February 23
rd for their home opener. Faceoff is scheduled for 12:00 P.M. and can be seen on Nova Nation All-Access.
Series Matchup: Saturday will be the 15
th game between the Wildcats and Pride. Last season Villanova defeated Hofstra on the road 7-2 and this was the first meeting between these two teams since 2009. The two goals were the fewest the Villanova defense allowed in over 10 years.
A Look at Villanova: For the first time in program history, the Wildcats defeated a No. 1 ranked team. Last weekend Villanova traveled to New Haven, Connecticut and beat the Yale Bulldogs 11-10 in overtime.
Villanova's Offense:
Joey Froccaro and
Keegan Khan both had a hat-trick last weekend against Yale. Both attackmen have four points this season along with
Eric Overbay who has dished out three assists and netted a goal. The Wildcats starting midfield line has contributed eight points this season.
Connor Kirst picked up the biggest point of his career when he netted the overtime game winner against the Bulldogs.
Villanova's Defense: Senior SSDM
TJ Comizio picked up BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week honors on Monday afternoon after the captain picked up five ground balls and caused two turnovers against Yale.
Owen Prybylski leads the team with eight ground balls while
Patrick Kennedy has caused four turnovers.
Nick Testa has played all 121 minutes between the posts and has 21 saves along with a 43.8% save percentage.
A Look at Hofstra: The Pride are 2-0 on the season with wins over Lehigh and Utah. Ryan Tierney is Hofstra's leading goal scorer with five goals while Dylan McIntosh has three points all on goals. Brian Herber has taken every faceoff for the Pride and is 22-for-35 with 12 ground balls. In goal has been Robert Casey who boasts 6.50 goals against average and .658 save percentage.
