Caroline Alcorta (Springfield, Va.) came in first out of two dozen runners in the 3000 meters and set a new meet record at the JDL DMR Invitational with a winning time of 9:15.07 on Saturday morning. Alcorta and senior
Sammy Bockoven (Hudson, Ohio) started in Saturday's race, with Bockoven setting a pace for the early laps.
Alcorta's time of 9:15.07 converts to a mark of 9:10.36 when accounting for the flat, 200-meter oval at the JDL Fast Track facility. The converted time improves Alcorta's standing on this year's national qualifying list, as she is now ranked 26
th in the 3000 meters as of the end of competition on Saturday evening. Alcorta is also ranked 20
th in the nation in the 5000 meters with a time of 15:45.64 which she posted at the Husky Classic in Seattle last week.
