WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.—Graduate student Caroline Alcorta (Springfield, Va.) came in first out of two dozen runners in the 3000 meters and set a new meet record at the JDL DMR Invitational with a winning time of 9:15.07 on Saturday morning.  Alcorta and senior Sammy Bockoven (Hudson, Ohio) started in Saturday's race, with Bockoven setting a pace for the early laps. 
 
Alcorta's time of 9:15.07 converts to a mark of 9:10.36 when accounting for the flat, 200-meter oval at the JDL Fast Track facility.  The converted time improves Alcorta's standing on this year's national qualifying list, as she is now ranked 26^th in the 3000 meters as of the end of competition on Saturday evening.  Alcorta is also ranked 20^th in the nation in the 5000 meters with a time of 15:45.64 which she posted at the Husky Classic in Seattle last week.
