Complete Villanova Results

WILLIAMSBURG, Va.--Fifth-year senior Ben Malone (River Vale, N.J.) was the individual champion of the 1500 meters as Villanova competed at the 53rd annual Colonial Relays on Friday afternoon. His winning time of 3:45.63 paced a field of 86 competitors and highlighted the Wildcats results at Zable Stadium on the first full day of the meet. Villanova also scored team points in the 800 meters, the shot put and the javelin. The meet concludes on Saturday with the remainder of the field events as well as the relay races for which the meet is known.

Notable Track Performances

  • Malone is a two-time champion of the 1500 meters at the Colonial Relays, having also finished first in the event as a junior two years ago ââ'¬Â¦ the Wildcats have produced the meet's 1500 meters champion three times in the last four years and four times overall ââ'¬Â¦ Malone's time of 3:45.63 on Friday was his fastest in nearly two years
  • Junior Ville Lampinen (Vantaa, Finland) came in sixth in the 800 meters with a time of 1:51.74 to earn three team points
  • Freshman sprinter Keegan Hughes (Malvern, Pa.) made his debut in the 400 meter hurdles and came in 13th out of 50 competitors with a time of 54.79 ââ'¬Â¦ only two Villanova sprinters over the last six seasons have posted faster times in the event, and Hughes' time on Friday would rank third in the BIG EAST this season pending the results of other meets this weekend
  • Junior Sterling Pierce (Voorhees, N.J.) came in 19th in the 100 meters with a time of 10.99, breaking 11 seconds for the first time this season ââ'¬Â¦ freshman Richie Bush (Lawnside, N.J.) recorded personal best times in both the 200 meters (21.82) and the 400 meters (50.04)

Notable Field Performances

  • Junior thrower Jack Judge (Palisades, N.Y.) is progressing well early in the outdoor season and finished sixth in the javelin with a season-best mark of 56.36 meters ââ'¬Â¦ he and fellow junior Henry Sise (Hawthorn Woods, Ill.) were the lone Villanova scorers in the championship sections of field events ââ'¬Â¦ Sise added one point to the Wildcats total with a ninth place finish and a mark of 14.97 meters in the shot put
  • Freshman Jacob Kelly (Longmeadow, Mass.) finished first in the non-scored university section of the high jump ââ'¬Â¦ he cleared a height of 2.03 meters on his first try and was the only one of 11 competitors in his section to top 2.00 meters ââ'¬Â¦ sophomore Thomas Conboy (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) was the runner-up in the university section of the pole vault with a height of 4.30 meters, while sophomore Steve Testa (Warminster, Pa.) came in third in the university section of the long jump with a distance of 6.78 meters

Still to Come

  • Villanova will have athletes competing in the university sections of the triple jump and the discus on Saturday ââ'¬Â¦ the team is also scheduled to compete in the 4x100, 4x800 and 4x1500 relays, as well as the sprint medley relay
