Sept. 15, 2017 VILLANOVA, Pa. - A busy and exciting weekend is coming up as Villanova welcomes parents and families to campus for a variety of activities and events during Family Weekend from September 15-17. There are a number of athletic events taking place on and near campus throughout the weekend, highlighted by the football home opener against Lafayette on Saturday evening at 6 p.m. Below is a full schedule of events taking place during the weekend.
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 15
4:00 PM ââ'¬" Women's Soccer vs. Harvard (Higgins Soccer Complex)
Come watch the women's soccer team as they take on Harvard in the final home non-conference game of the regular season. Parking and admission are free for fans attending the game at the Higgins Soccer Complex on West Campus. Friday's game is a Whiteout Game and all fans are encouraged to wear white to the game. Promotions include a Snapchat filter for the game and a chance to spin the wheel and win prizes for fans who are wearing white. Directions to Higgins Soccer Complex
4:45 PM ââ'¬" Women's Cross Country at Main Line Invitational (Haverford College)
The women's cross country team is ranked No. 18 in the nation and the Wildcats will be making their season debut when they race in the Main Line Invitational. The meet takes place just a few miles down the road on the campus of Haverford College. Parking at Haverford is free of charge and the women's three-mile race begins at 4:45 p.m. Haverford Campus Map
5:30 PM ââ'¬" Men's Cross Country at Main Line Invitational (Haverford College)
The men's cross country team makes its season debut when Villanova races in the Main Line Invitational. The meet takes place just a few miles down the road on the campus of Haverford College. 7:00 PM ââ'¬" Volleyball vs. Temple (Jake Nevin Field House)
The final regular season non-conference match is on tap for the volleyball team on Friday night when they take on local rival Temple at Jake Nevin Field House. Admission is free of charge to see the Wildcats, who are currently 6-4 on the season and have won two of their first three home matches. Jake Nevin Field House Parking and Directions
Men's Tennis ââ'¬" Villanova Invitational (Villanova Tennis Complex)
The men's tennis team is hosting the Villanova Invitational this weekend, and action will be ongoing throughout the day on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This weekend's tournament marks the team's fall season opener, and the Wildcats annual home invitational will be once again be a 2-and-1 format. Teams will first face each other in a doubles match, followed by both members of the doubles tandem playing a singles match against one of the opposing players. The team that wins at least two of those three matches will advance in the tournament bracket, while the losing team will play in the back draw. Parking and admission are free on West Campus.
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 16
11:00 AM ââ'¬" Men's Soccer Youth Day Programming (Higgins Soccer Complex)
The men's soccer team is hosting Marquette in its BIG EAST opener and Youth Day activities begin with a clinic for children in grades eight and below at 11 a.m. The clinic takes place at the Higgins Soccer Complex on West Campus, and fans interested in the clinic should RSVP to Taylor Kohler at taylor.kohler@villanova.edu. From 11:30-12:45, the Kids Zone will be open with inflatables, the Nutritious365 Mobile food truck, coloring stations and a visit by Will D. Cat and the Wildcats cheerleaders. 1:00 PM ââ'¬" Men's Soccer vs. Marquette (Higgins Soccer Complex)
Villanova has won three of its last four games and now turns its attention to the start of conference play as Marquette comes to town. Admission is free and kickoff is at 1 p.m. at the Higgins Soccer Complex, where the Wildcats are 8-2-1 in their last 11 home games dating back to last season. Stick around after the game for a postgame autograph session with the Villanova players.
6:00 PM ââ'¬" Football vs. Lafayette (Villanova Stadium)
The football team is ranked No. 7 in the nation this week and is set for its home opener against Lafayette. Kickoff is at 6 p.m., but don't miss the Wildcat Walk which will take place at 3:30 p.m. The band, cheerleaders, dance team and twirlers will lead the football team through the A-2 parking lot on the way to their locker room in the Andrew J. Talley Athletic Center.
Tickets are on sale for Saturday's football game and can be purchased online or by calling the Villanova Ticket Office at 610-519-4100. The main ticket counter at Villanova Stadium will open on game day beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Villanova travels into Philadelphia to take on the Dragons in a Sunday afternoon non-conference game. The soccer field at Drexel is part of the Vidas Athletic Complex located at 43rd Street and Powelton Avenue (directions).

The field hockey team opens conference play this Saturday when it travels to Virginia to take on Liberty. The game can be seen live on ESPN3 starting at 1 p.m.
Women's Tennis ââ'¬" Bison Invite (Lewisburg, Pa.) ââ'¬" Friday-Sunday, September 15-17
The women's tennis team opens its fall season this weekend when it travels to Bucknell to play in the Bison Invite. Action will be ongoing throughout the weekend at the Varsity Courts on the Bucknell campus.
