Adrian Blincoe Advances In 1,500

At the 2001 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships held at the University of Oregon, sophomore Adrian Blincoe finished second in the first heat of the 1,500 meter run to advance to the finals to be held on Saturday, June 2. Eliud Njubi of Texas Christian won the heat in 3:43.15, while Blincoe was timed in 3:43.61. Villanova freshman Ryan Hayden finished eighth in the same heat with a time of 3:45.96 and failed to advance to the finals.

On Friday, June 1, senior Scott Tantino will compete in the finals of the 5,000 meter run. Tantino and Blincoe are trying to become the first Villanova male to win an NCAA outdoor individual title since 1981 when Sydney Maree captured the 1,500 meter run in a time of 3:35.30.
