SOUTH ORANGE, N.J.--- Traveling to South Orange, N.J., on Wednesday, Sept. 27, the Villanova University women's soccer team was defeated by Seton Hall, 1-0, as the Pirates scored the game's lone goal on a Frauke Dittel blast just 4:30 into the contest. The Wildcats fall to 6-4-0 overall with the loss, and 0-1-0 in the Big East. Seton Hall improves to 6-4-0 and 3-0-0 in conference action with the win.
Just 4:30 into regulation, Natalie Smith found Dittel with a cross. Dittel launched a shot from 16 yards away to beat Villanova goalkeeper Janel Schillig with the game's first goal.
That was all the Pirates would need on this day, as the Seton Hall defense stifled the Wildcats all afternoon long. Despite outshooting the Pirates 12-7 in the contest, Villanova was unable to put the ball into the net past Seton Hall goalkeeper Heather Hinton. Hinton posted the shutout with a game-high five saves.
The Wildcats will get back into action on Friday, Sept. 29, traveling to West Virginia to face the Mountaineers at 7:00 p.m.
