Villanova, Pa. - A goal from freshman Elizabeth Firth (Chevy Chase, Md.) with 3:29 left in the second half lifted Villanova to an 11-10 victory in a Patriot League game played at Villanova Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The contest was tight throughout the 60 minutes of action. Neither team ever held more than a two goal advantage and that lasted less than 60 seconds (Villanova's 8-6 lead was reduced when Bucknell's Ashley Evans scored at the 15:43 mark of the second half).
Sarah DePeters (Rochester, N.Y.) set the scoring pace for Villanova with five goals on the afternoon. The sophomore now has 14 goals on the campaign. Freshman Meghan Carolan followed her three goal outing against Pennsylvania on Tuesday with a pair of goals and an assist for Villanova against the Bison. Caitlin Cocks added three second half assists.
Evans led Bucknell with three goals.
Villanova (3-5 overall, 1-0 Patriot League) hits the road for its next two contests. The Wildcats face Lehigh on Tuesday, March 28 at 3:30 p.m. and then travel to Lafayette on Saturday, April 1.
