Wildcats Defeat Delaware In Men's Tennis Action

On Thursday, April 8, the Villanova men's tennis team defeated the Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens 4-3. This victory comes after four consecutive wins for the Cats, whose record now stands at 11-6 on the year.

The Wildcats took four of the six singles matches from the Fightin' Blue Hens. Villanova's Michael Mock, a senior out of Middletown, Pa., went three sets in his fourth singles match up with Sean Kelly from Delaware. After dropping the first set 6-7, Mock rebounded by snatching the next two sets 6-4 and 6-2. At the No. 2 post, Stephen Smith (senior/Ft. Smith, Ark.) also went three sets in his match against Delaware's Jordan Biel only to emerge the victor 6-3, 6-7 and 6-4.

The No. 2 pair of Stephen Smith and Ramon Prats was the only doubles team to win their match for Villanova. Smith and Prats defeated the Fightin' Blue Hens' Clinton Cole and Sean Kelly 8-4.
