Traveling to the University of Maryland Baltimore County on Wednesday, March 31, the Villanova men's tennis team defeated the Retrievers 4-3. The Wildcats, coming off back to back wins against LaSalle and Fordham, improve their record to 9-6 on the year with the win.
In singles action for Villanova, Paul Moore defeated Mati Lennox of UMBC 6-3, 7-5 at the third singles post. Moore, a sophomore out of Pacific Palisades, California, has been a key performer for the Wildcats this year. With records of 2-1 at second singles and 10-2 at third singles, Moore's overall record now stands at an impressive 12-3.
Villanova swept through the doubles matches against the Retrievers, stealing all three matches for wins en route to a team victory. Wildcats Stephen Smith and Ramon Prats prevailed against UMBC's Lennox and Didokar 8-5 at the number two match-up.
