VILLANOVA, Pa. - After having their three-game winning streak broken by Bucknell earlier this week, Villanova got back on the plus column as the Wildcats defeated Sacred Heart 13-7, improving their record to 5-3. Nova struck first on a score by Justin Loonie that was followed by Chris Corr who got the 'Cats to a 2-0 lead. The Pioneers came back with two goals of their own by Ray Gogarty and Chris Lukowski to even the game at 2-2. But Villanova ended the frist quarter with the unanswered to give the ?Cats a 5-2 lead after one.

As the scoring frenzy continued, Sacred Heart netted two quick goals early in the second to bring the Pioneers within one, 5-4. But the Wildcats fired back with three straight goals by Hourican, Tom Lasky and Peter Flynn to increase their cushion, 8-4. Each team exchanged goals prior to the half as Villanova took a 9-5 lead into the locker rooms.

In the third, the Wildcats attacked the Pioneers and netted three goals as Nova began to pull away, 12-5. Andrew Bogle's goals in the fourth was the last for Nova as their cruised to victory defeating Sacred Heart, 13-7. Villanova's defense kept the Pioneers scoreless for most of the second half as Sacred Heart scored thier first goal of the second half with just 3:56 remaining the game.

Junior Tom Houricane led all Wildcat scorers with five points on three goals and two assists, while Bogle and Lasky each tallied three points. For Sacred Heart, who falls to 4-3, Mike Robel tallied two goals and one assist, while Terrance Hutmacher added three assists for the Pioneers. Villanova travels to Baltimore, Md. To take on the nationally ranked Johns Hopkins Blue Jays on Wednesday, April 7.
